My "Alternative"
I found that, with all the guestbook alternatives, I kept coming back to one. Its a tree print where people either leave thumbprints as their "signature" or they sign leaves of the tree. I thought this was a cute idea, but wanted to take it one step further to make it "us". A lot of our friends / family know that we call ourselves the "bears" and I wanted to incorporate that somewhere. I reached out to Jenna Sue, who has done prints for me in the past and said, "make me a tree print with bears"! I was so excited to see the final product and am really happy with what we settled on! Take a look!
The Guestbook Alternative
We've all seen the "usual suspect" guestbooks and the standard framed photograph with autograph's-style guestbooks. I want to definitely do something different for the guestbook. I've seen some pretty creative ideas, like the one above, photobooth shots, a wishing well, etc. I still want something a little more practical for us to hold as a momento. I've come across two options that I really like. The first one, I must admit, I found on Pinterest.
Option 1 - Signed Champagne
This option entails ordering an oversized champagne bottle. I would most likely swap out the label to be something with our monogram. And then guests sign it with a metallic sharpie. On our first anniversary, we'll pop the top and enjoy the champagne and look over the signatures and well wishes. We'll of course, keep the bottle as a momento.
Option2 - Crazy Girl Sheet Music
I dont even know how I came up with this idea. I think I remember seeing some people frame a CD with the couples "first dance" song and guests sign the matting around it. I want to do something along those lines, but I came across this listing on eBay: Sheet music to our first dance. This is twice as sweet because of the song but also because I used to play piano (and hope to play again). Oh yeah, and did I mention that it is only $3.99?
Option 3 - Crazy Custom LP
Now I totally thought of taking idea 2 one step further by ordering a Custom LP with our song on it and have everyone sign it. Holy cannoli, these things exceed $120! But since it will not be played (because it will be signed and I don't own a record player) I was thinking of just grabbing a random LP at a local thrift store or yard sale and order one of these custom labels from Zazzle. I could upload the cover art from the CD. It would totally cost me less than $10 to do this option. Or, if I'm feeling lazy, can opt to order one of these from someone on Etsy and save the time.
So what do you think? Will it be Door #1, #2 or #3? Or something even more unique???
