Finished Product
There was a point, about a month or so ago, where I was really doubting the final invite design and was thinking about scrapping my original design and getting new invites. But in the end, I stuck with what I originally chose and boy am I happy I did! I am so thrilled with the final result I can't wait to send them out in March! The only thing left to do is to stamp the RSVPs and to address the outer envelopes. I am not sure as to the final guestlist, so I'm holding off on that part. So, take a peek at the finished result!
Oh so Inviting!
So the ongoing saga behind my invitations is really centered around a few (major) issues.
#1 - We can't decide on colors! Though I think we have (finally) come to terms and made a final decision, who knows? I heard myself say that three times before!
#2 - The budget is... uh... requiring some "creative" thinking. This basically translates to the fact that we have no money for invitations, but still need to make something classy looking!
#3 - The budget is that tight that it is worthy of mention again. Yes, its THAT tight.
In the end I have basically decided to make the invitations myself. I am trying to see if I can get someone to create a design for me that I like and can print myself on paper that I will then trim and mount on some really cool pocket cards. Here was the original concept:

So basically its a solid card on the front and on the back, there is a pocket for all the inserts. I want it to be clean and modern, and we finally decided on colors last night. I stopped by a local merchant for paper and she quoted me pocket cards from Soho Invitations. It will be in a cool metallic steel grey. I will then create a cool green mat on the front and mount the off-white invitation on there. It's finished size will be 5"x7" landscape. I may add a patterned paper to line the pocket with, but as of right now it will be plain.
And basically here is the layout of how I would like it to look when all is said and done.
THE ORDER HAS BEEN PLACED!
After a test order of the invitation only (because I've never ordered from VistaPrint before) I made the final tweaks to the design and placed my print order today. So hopefully, within the next week I will receive all the materials and I can put one finished invitation together. Here are my designs!
