Centerpieces
Ok. So my final idea for the centerpieces changed. I decided to re-purpose the ones I previously used for my last family reunion ;). Here's what they look like.
And in my setting, it will hopefully look like this....
But for those still interested in the "handmade" DIY twig centerpieces, read on....
The Previous Concept
So the reception space in my venue is pretty big (in height, anyway). This usually calls for a nice tall centerpiece. And in all the photos of other weddings at this venue, it appears that small centerpieces make the tables look "wimpy" or "lost" in the space. So I know one thing for sure - I definitely wanted to do something tall.
Typically, my first thought would be a nice tall vase or urn with flowers, but being honest, I just dont have that in my budget. So I will definitely need to be creative. I have these existing candle holders that I've used before, but I feel that they'll just be too empty in the space. Then BAM! It hits me! I did a bridal show about 2 years ago and did these reef sticks in a vase with silver floral wire hanging from the branches. I then used my glue gun to adhere rose petals to them periodically and then I finished it off with cute $1 shimmery beaded strands that I found at the dollar store. Perfect. So I went to Michaels, bought my supplies for the mock-up and here they are in all their glory... my test centerpiece!
With these in place, the only other thing I will be adding to the table, besides the standard napkin and menu, will be cute 4" square votives with the edges lined with lime slices. I've seen this done before with oranges and its so adorable, especially when the light shines through them. This gives you an idea what it will look like, but it will be a candle instead of flowers.
Ok, so I found the picture of the concept votives I was talking about. Here they are...
